James Cathcart - Chief Executive Officer
James joined BYC as CEO in Jan 2008
having worked ten years at The Prince's Trust HQ. He's done lots of
different jobs with young people, as a Probation Officer, a social
worker, a youth worker and a mentor- but started it all as a
community volunteer, building an adventure playground!

Zoë Cumberland - Youth Voice Manager (National

Zoë first joined BYC in 2008 as a full time
volunteer. Since then she has held a number of roles within the
Programmes and Policy department, and is currently responsible for
managing BYC's national events including the UKYP Annual Sitting
and House of Commons Sitting. She also oversees BYC's membership
and training services. Zoë graduated with an MA in Criminology from
the University of Kent in 2012, and is currently studying part time
for a Diploma in Event Management.
Declan Sharkey - Programmes Support Officer

Declan joined BYC in January 2016 as Programmes Support Officer.
He works on organising events and supporting our members. Declan
studied at Newcastle University and has a BSc in Geography and
Mathematics and an MA in International Political Economy. He has
previously worked with young people both nationally and

Georgia started at BYC as a volunteer in 2014, and joined the
staff as in the run up to the general election working on policy
and campaigns. Georgia currently works on organising events and
supporting members as well as assisting the programmes team.
Georgia studied at the University of Manchester and finished her MA
in English Literature in 2014. Her interests include reading,
politics and travel.

Anna joined BYC in April 2011 after having worked
with the UK Youth Parliament since 2003, prior to which she helped
establish a Youth Communications project in Worcestershire
involving a radio station, web portal and free-phone helpline. Anna
has also worked in youth centres on targeted projects for young
people with learning and behavioural needs; ran drama and positive
press groups, and established the Worcestershire Youth Cabinet to
amplify young people's voices across the county. She is a JNC
qualified youth worker with a BA Hons degree in Literature, Life

Rhammel Afflick - Communications & Media Officer

Rhammel has been working for BYC since 2011 as a
consultant and later joined the team full time in February 2015.
Before joining BYC Rhammel ran his own creative agency and worked
for Cambridge House a Campaigns & Strategy Manager. He is now
responsible for the planning, production and curation of digital
and social content, develops our marketing material
and coordinates our daily media enquiries.
Scott Ideson - Communications Assistant

Scott previously volunteered in our North East
office helping to run Conventions and other events, before coming
to work as Communications Assistant in our head office. Scott is
currently studying a BSc in Children's Nursing, and is Nursing
Students Officer at London South Bank Students' Union. He is a
qualified youth worker, and holds various roles within The Scout
Association both locally and nationally.

Amy joined BYC in October 2015, having recently completed an
Urban Studies MSc at UCL and a Geography BA in Southampton. She was
the deputy editor for the University of Southampton's student
newspaper and has experience in writing, editing and publishing for
both charitable and commercial environments. Amy currently helps
manage the social media, news writing and events channels for the
NHS Youth Forum wing of BYC, and her main interests include tea,
politics and Glastonbury Festival.

Jack has been volunteering with BYC
since March 2013 as a member of the UK Youth Parliament. As
assistant communications officer he helps manage social media,
draft press releases and update the organisation's press databases.
In summer 2015 he worked with the National Citizen Service as a
Youth Support Worker and in his spare time supports his local Youth

Francesca has worked in youth development both
nationally and internationally for a number of years.
Francesca first joined BYC back in 2011 as a trustee, and more
recently joined the staff team as Policy and Campaigns Officer.
Francesca currently works on producing reports, developing policy
and a number of our campaigns including Votes at 16. Francesca
graduated in 2010 after studying Psychology at Brunel University,
and is now studying for an MSc at Queen Mary's University of
